This sweet tasting annual herb is grown for its fennel and licorice scented and flavored seeds and leaves. This spice can be used whole or ground just before use. Often it is used in baking, tincturing and cordials.

  • Planting Information:
When and where to plant: Select a sunny location and plant outdoors in well-drained soil after last frost. Cultivate and enrich soil. Firm soil over seed. Avoid transplanting.
Care: Keep soil moist and control weeds.
Harvesting: Harvest seeds when gray-green. Cut stems, wash, and spread to dry in warm, dark, well-ventilated place. To remove seed, rub between hands. Store in air tight container. Leaves may be harvested at any time.
Storage: Store seed in cool, dry place. Heat and moisture can severely reduce germination.
